Top team training and development.
Leaders these days are in the spotlight, and no-one underestimates the impact business heads as individuals have on organisational performance. But what about the top team as a collective? Ironically top teams are established to make the most critical business decisions, but spend the least amount of time creating the framework that will maximise the quality and effectiveness of their decision–making.
This can be compounded by internal politics at top levels. Individuals, who represent different parts of the organisation, create their own agendas. They may view their fellow team members as a source of competition, and board meetings as a platform to advance their own cause; be it for resources or career advancement. If this is encouraged by the business leader in the name of ‘healthy competition’ any motivation for developing an integrated team sinks without trace.
