Top reading list
If you’re lucky enough to find some book tokens in your Christmas stocking this year, we have some thoughts on how to spend them. CHPD experts share their favourite reads and not all of them are traditional business books:
Ben Chambers, business development manager, recommends Maverick by Riccardo Semler. He claims it’s completely off the wall, but if you distil the ideas there are some very interesting messages coming through.
Simon Foster, senior client director and author of our New Year tips (link) recommends When Cultures Collide – Leading, Teamworking and Managing Across Cultures by Richard D Lewis. He claims this covers everything you need to know about working in a global environment.
Anthony Sheldon, consultant and probably one of the most prolific readers at CHPD, recommends What Sport Tells Us About Life by Ed Smith. The book takes a look at how motivation can be channelled to advantage (or detriment) with great contemporary examples from world sport.
Pip Clarke, senior development director, wants us to read Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama (you might have heard of him!). She acknowledges that it’s not the most exciting of reads, but it is inspirational. Pip also claims there are many examples of CHPD’s own High Performance Behaviours (the behaviours of outstanding leaders) in the book – so spot them if you can!
